Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs) are the only type of financial advisers who are able to select from all products in the marketplace, making sure you get the right product for your individual needs.
An IFA is not tied to one company and can give advice on the products and services of all companies, which gives the consumer choice and advice that is independent. This is in direct contrast to some other advisers called tied agents, as they are tied to one company.
IFAs are bound by the Financial Services Authority rules, which means they are able to provide advice most suited to your personal requirements and your risk outlook. In order for an IFA to give advice to a client, a fact find and a needs analysis will usually be carried out. Only then will an IFA advise on whether or not a product is suiable to meet the clients' needs.
